Happy New Year 2018!
Happy to have a moment to actually write. With a new born, any moment to myself is a dream. But Yes! God has been exceedingly gracious and kind to my husband and I, honoring us to be earthly stewards of His precious child. 2017 ended with this amazing, life changing gift to our family. We are now a family of three!
This is a new season for my husband and I, individually and together as parents. We continue to actively see God at work in our lives. Like the psalmist King David wrote, we have tasted and seen the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. God has done exceedingly, abundantly and above what we could have imagined. He completely exceeds our expectations in each and every area of our lives. The blessing is the ability to recognise Him at work behind the scene in everything that concerns us.
So what does 2018 look like in this journey of salvation? Simply, God encourages us to REMAIN IN HIS LOVE. We hope to walk with Him and learn what this actually means to us; individually, as a couple and now parents. God’s instruction to remain in His love makes me think there is a possibility of being out His love! The possibility is a challenge to actively remain.
First things first, what is this love we are to remain in. An understanding of this love and what leaving this love looks like will bring more insight on how we remain or leave.
God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. (I John 4 :16b-17 NLT)
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT)
From these two portions of scripture we see that the full expression of God’s love is in our individual relationships with Him and with one another. Once you receive the love of the Father and allow this love to flow through you to your neigbour you are in His love truly. For example, God’s love is Kind. Once we experience God’s kindness and allow His kindness to flow through to others, we are in His Love. This is what Christ means when He says:
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. (John 15:9)
Christ has deeply known the love of the Father and from this love has loved us. Love was perfected in Christ receiving the Father’s love and Him loving us.
This is the love He invites us to share and remain. We remain in God who is LOVE, as we receive His love and then share this love with our neighbors. To remain in His love, is to receive His love that He pours out so lavishly into our hearts by the Holy Spirit and then walking in this love with our neighbors.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for your great love that is gracious, unconditional, pure and without blemish. Thank you that your love seeks us out drawing us out of darkness and into your marvelous light of salvation. Thank you for giving us your precious Holy Spirit who teaches and empowers us to receive your great love and then walk in this love with our neighbors. Lord, by your abundant grace, help us to be conscious and aware of your love. Lord empower us tobe willing, obedient conduits of this great to love to our families, our neighbors, enemies and the world at large. Lord empower us to walk in your love. Help me and whoever is reading this post to grow in the area of love. Keep us in your Love Lord. In Jesus mighty name , AMEN.
